1372 Kings Highway, Sugar Loaf, NY 10981   845.469.9810

Matthew Kannon has owned and run the Barnsider since 1980. Walter Kannon originally bought the property in the early 1960’s and built the Barnsider out of barn siding and hand hewn beams, hence the name.  Until 1980, the Barnsider was operated as a secondhand shop selling hardware, tools, barn siding and other architectural artifacts.  In 1980, after watching Sugar Loaf grow steadily into a major craft center, it occurred to Walter Kannon that the town could use a restaurant. The building’s facade is a monument to its past, displaying s comprehensive collection of old carpentry tools.  These greetings, along with the barn siding and hand-hewn beam interior, create a visually interesting, inviting and comfortable ambiance.  The Barnsider accommodates theatre-goers to the Lycian Theatre performances by keeping the kitchen operating at full speed. There is ample off-street parking.  Reservations area not accepted.  The Barnsider can accommodate groups as large as 75 people even on an impromptu basis. The Barnsider is in the center of town.
